How to Paint Behind Your Toilet

How to Paint Behind Your Toilet

Painting behind your toilet can sometimes be the hardest part of painting a bathroom. Here you will find step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish that professional paint job, without needing to hire a plumber or needing complex tools to get the job done!

Things to have on hand:

  • Extra towels

  • Wrench or pliers if needed

Step 1: Shut off the water to your toilet. You can find the shut off valve at the base of your toilet. It should be horizontal instead of vertical.

Shut off the water to your toilet.

Step 2: Remove the tank lid and flush all the remaining water out of the tank. You may have some water remaining, so it's best to use a towel to soak it up as best you can before removing the tank.

Step 3: locate the wing nuts on either side underneath the tank and remove.
