Repaint Studios Makes a Splash on Shark Tank

Repaint Studios Makes a Splash on Shark Tank

Repaint Studios took the national stage on Shark Tank Season 17, Episode 3 — and scored a deal! Founder Billie Asmus wowed the Sharks with the Repaint Tray, a reusable paint tray with an air-tight lid that keeps paint fresh longer for up to three weeks, and cuts down on messy cleanup.

Billie came into the Tank asking for $250,000 for 5% equity in Repaint Studios, showing off how the Repaint Tray makes painting projects less wasteful and way more convenient. After some lively back-and-forth, Barbara Corcoran teamed up with Joanna and Chip Gaines to strike a deal: $250,000 for 15% equity — a partnership that’s as colorful as the paint inside our trays! “The Repaint Tray was born out of one simple mission: to make painting smarter, cleaner, and greener,” said Billie Asmus, founder of Repaint Studios. “To have Barbara, Joanna, and Chip believe in that mission? It’s an absolute dream. This is only the beginning!”

The Repaint Tray is built to last with a sturdy metal base, flexible silicone liner, and airtight lid that keeps paint fresh for up to 21 days. With over 240 million plastic paint trays ending up in landfills every year, the Repaint Tray is an eco-friendly solution that’s better for you and better for the environment. It’s designed for DIYers, weekend warriors, and pros who are tired of wasting paint (and patience).

The Repaint Studios Story
It all started in a basement studio with a lot of paint and one big problem. Billie, a furniture refinisher and mom with a knack for creative solutions, was tired of the waste and mess that came with traditional paint trays. Disposable liners were flimsy, plastic waste was piling up, and there wasn’t a reusable option that actually worked. So, she decided to make one herself.

What began as a late-night idea turned into a full-blown mission. Billie sketched, prototyped, and even filed a patent — all while juggling her business and family life. Her goal was simple: make painting easier, cleaner, and more sustainable for everyone.

From that spark, Repaint Studios was born. Founded in 2021, this woman-owned company is on a mission to reimagine painting supplies for the modern DIYer. Their hero product, The Repaint Tray, keeps cleanup quick and waste low. But Repaint is about more than just great design; it’s about creativity, sustainability, and making everyday projects a little more joyful.
